Important: This howto only works for the following devices:

• iPod Touch 1st Generation
• iPhone 1st Generation
• iPhone 3G

At the moment it is only possible via Pwnage Tool, software is only available to Mac OS X. Hopefully we will soon have available redsn0w.

We we only tested for 3G iPhone, please read the news from dev-team, if you have a 1st generation iPhone or iPod Touch 1st generation, there are several steps that !!!.

First of all, strongly recommend you synchronize your iPhone/iPod Touch with iTunes and iTunes also force you to make a backup.

We download the new version of Pwnage Tool, you can do from the bittorrent network from here.

Once downloaded PwnageTool we proceed as follows.

Step 1 – iTunes

• Click on the iPhone
• With key alt pressed click on Update (on Windows press Shift key), we will leave the dialog box to select the firmware you want to install on your device, select the one we went download theother day
• Let iTunes do his work.

Step 2 – Pwnage Tool

• Open Pwnage Tool
• Select the kind of iPhone/iPod Touch we have in our hands
• At the next screen, in seconds, we should something like …
  once we leave we have to select it and see what
  
• Now PwnageTool will tell us that keep tuning the firmware on your desktop
  we accept and click on yes…
• On the next screen
  will ask if you can activate our iPhone normal way through iTunes, by default we say yes.
• PwnageTool then start building our firmware tuning
• Once finished we asked if we’ve ever done the jailbreak on a device before, we respond according to our case
  but remember, if you have upgraded to version 3.1 downloaded with iTunes (in the official theory), you must say no, because now we have the iphone with jailbreak
• Then tell us we’re ready to put our iphone in DFU mode and put this wonderful tuned firmware we just created

Step 3 – Put the iPhone in DFU mode
If you have iTunes open at the moment and the iPhone connected, first disconnect the iPhone via iTunes then close iTunes.
To enter DFU mode do the following:
We turn off the iPhone / iPod Touch, once off press the button to turn off sleep / wake and home button for 15 seconds, once 15 seconds pass these tight hold 5 seconds over the Home button, or a little longer if necessary, until the image appears to us to connect the iPhone / iPod Touch to iTunes. Then you’re in DFU mode.
If we still have the iPhone connected via USB cable iTunes will open automatically, but we opened as we go into DFU mode and make sure that the iPhone is connected to the computer with the USB cable.

Step 4 – iTunes
We repeat the same thing we did in step 1, but now with the ipsw file that PwnageTool created us. iTunes now expected to finish their work.

And already about to finish handing the iTunes firmware 3.1 tuned to our iPhone already have a nice iPhone 3G jailbreak.
