iPhone 3GS: Get your ECID before updating the firmware to version 3.1
We have read a little on the subject, but we are not in the case of having an iPhone 3GS in our hands, unfortunately … So we have taken a little more on documents.
Here we explain a method that you may remove your information from your iPhone ECID 3GS. Those who venture to try, please, could confirm the remarks whether the method is valid.
Few days ago, we find at Actualidad iPhone, this news, in which we explained, or rather we were sent to another site where we provide the ECID signed to our iPhone 3GS.
We’ll explain another method, based (I think) in front and we’ve found this other site, Mi iPod Touch.
Step 1 – Download ECID Grabber
By the following link, Ecid Grabber, you can access to the ECID Grabber download. At the moment I have not managed to find a Mac version, so you only know the existence of ECID Grabber for Windows.
Step 2 – Put iPhone 3GS in DFU Mode
To do so follow the instructions indicate at at the web.
- Shutdown the iPhone 3GS
- Unplug (if is plugged) the iPhone from the Computer
- Press the Home button and connect the iPhone to the Computer, while pressing the Home button
- Should appear on the iPhone the iTunes logo with USB cable
If it works we can resort to another method to enter recovery mode you can see here (spanish).
Step 3 – ECID Grabber
We opened the program with the iPhone in recovery mode 3GS newly connected to the computer, and we press on Get ECID.
The program should return a 16 character alphanumeric code. He scored in a safe place
Step 4 – Request signed ECID
- Go to Purplera1n site and introduce our ECID in the text box just below the Apple and Windows logos, take care! that the page background is black and the text box is not visible, is nestled between the logos and Donate Paypal button. Click on the logo that corresponds with that of our operating system.
- The website will tell us that if we save a file, obviously we keep it on a hard drive.
- This file you download is sent to this email: ih8sn0wydaz@gmail.com
- Then we will receive an email with two files, IBSS and IBEC.
This IBSS and IBEC files, we have just received are those that allow the downgrade to version 3.1 to the 3.0 firmware of your iPhone 3GS.
That’s all!

Saludos,
Ángel.
